So Very Alive: Performing Feminist and Queer Utopias, Futures and Dreams

Mar 2, 2013 →6 pm @ Rumble Arts Center
RSVP on Facebook

Nine radical Chicago based performance art acts address the possibilities for transformation, the beauty of resilience and survival, and illuminate the glimmers of liberation that exist in the world.

Queer Centaurs playfully court one another; a cyborg woman simulates surgery on herself with a live biofeedback noise composition; a glittery goddess protects their communities through dance; an S&M clown addresses a culture of shaming; the possibilities of ecstatic non-monogamy and inter-female friendships are explored through operatic vignettes, silences surrounding internalized racism and Latina objectification are broken, a birthing process into a gender truth is mapped, a fierce insistence on self-determination and agency is commanded into the performance space.
